Second El Al Flight Diverted

As the morons in Washington DC scream and whine about the War on Terror, a second El Al flight has been diverted from landing in Toronto because of terrorist threats: El Al plane diverted second time.

The same El Al Boeing 767 that was diverted on Thursday morning to Montreal to avoid flying to Toronto’s international airport again skipped the country’s busiest airport on its return journey.

Under police guard, it landed instead in Hamilton for refuelling and to exchange passengers at 12:45 a.m., and left for Israel at 2:26 a.m., said Ken Mitchell, spokesman for Hamilton’s international airport.

David Collenette, the Minister of Transport, said it is possible future El Al flights through Toronto will be rerouted.

“In terms of future flights, that is certainly something that we will work with security forces and El Al to determine,” Mr. Collenette said.

“I want to assure travellers there is not a problem with travelling to Pearson, to Toronto. But it was specific to that flight…. As for subsequent El Al flights, that’s something we will have to deliberate, considering the various intelligence that we receive, and we’re working with others on that.”

An Air Canada jet, which shares the Tel Aviv route with El Al on alternate days, arrived in Toronto from Israel as scheduled yesterday morning.

The information in the threat, widely speculated to be from a ground-to-air missile, obviously targets the star of David on the tail of the El Al aircraft rather than the maple leaf on Air Canada’s planes flying the same route.
