British Liberal Democrat MP Jenny Tonge apparently never learned that when you’re in a hole, you need to stop digging—because her latest dispatch finds her not just sympathizing with suicide bombers, but hanging out with them. (Hat tip: Right Wing Conspirator.) And the BBC is happy to provide a podium for this vacuous terror dilettante.

We met up with some al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade terrorists after lurking guiltily in Manger Square waiting for them to arrive.

We were taken to a safe Christian house, where two bearded, shaded, skull-capped men, one with a black Kalashnikov, sat on a sofa near a huge wall hanging of Jesus the Good Shepherd.

They had heard about my remarks and were pleased that I understood the reasons why they were terrorists, even “proud” of me. This was spine-chilling.

Amazing. This incredibly stupid woman sits with terrorists who tell her they’re proud of her, and it causes not one flicker of cognition inside her empty skull. If a suicide bomber said he was proud of me, I’d take it as a sign that I was on the wrong track. But that’s just me; I have this little thing about not wanting to support genocidal murderers of children.

We visited the family of a suicide bomber. The stories of indoctrination of little children right through their schooldays didn’t seem to apply here.

The brothers of Mohamed showed no signs of this and his mother claimed she had no idea her son was planning this until the al-Aqsa Brigade delivered his “memorial” picture taken before the mission.

Nope, no indoctrination there. Little Mohamed just woke up one sunny day and decided to commit mass murder, out of the blue. Not one person who knew him had a clue.

It is certainly true that suicide bombers are regarded as national heroes here, but what else do they have - born out of despair and the desire to resist occupation, laced with religious belief.

Civilian targets are chosen because there is no way of getting at military targets.

Oh. Well, that’s OK then. They gotta kill somebody, right?

Dr Tonge was asked whether, following those conversations, she could imagine herself putting on an explosive belt, travelling to a target and then detonating the explosives.

She said: “No I can’t frankly. But I can’t imagine the preparation and the paraphernalia. And also frankly I don’t think I would be brave enough, if I’m totally honest.

“But I still can understand the mixture of despair, resistance to an occupying force which always causes terrorists to pop up out of nowhere, and heavily laced with a religious belief or some indoctrination. I can still understand and put myself in the position of people who do it.”
