I don’t know if it is a Good cop, bad cop play by America and Turkey but I don’t support the US policy in Syria where we arm insurgents, many of whom are religious fanatics and motivated not by a desire for democracy but sectarian animosity and then act all high and mighty against Syrian govt violence while downplaying or ignoring rebel mounted atrocities.

Based on reading comment sections in the NYTimes and WSJ I see that the American people are not buying the DC line either.

I wonder if such things like reader comments in big newspapers are noticed at the White House (along with polling)?
