What, me worry?8/17/2012 6:24:20 pm PDT |
This is one of those stories I wish would disappear. One of those shiny, dangly objects to make you look over there —>
I guess the story started from the NYT quoted in the Rolling Stones article:
The nation’s first Generation X vice-presidential candidate, he is an avowed proponent of free markets whose family has interests in oil leases. But he counts Rage Against the Machine, which sings about the greed of oil companies and whose Web site praises the anti-corporate Occupy Wall Street movement, among his favorite bands.
That’s it for RATM. But out of all the stuff in the article, basically Ryan’s entire bio of his personal and professional life, RATM is the major story? Feh.
Morello is a Communist. He’s totally out about that. Now, RATM was never my kind of music. I did like Audioslave which many people say sucked (??), but I knew nothing at the time about Morello’s politics. It was actually my love for Chris Cornell, with those amazing kissy lips (and his music is awesome, too) that I started paying any attention to Morello. Then there was that little gig in Cuba that pissed me off. Soon after, Audioslave broke up. Anyway, they’re still on my iPod.
So I’m saying, it’s popular music. Who cares? It has zero meaning. Most people have no idea what the political views are of their favorite bands. And it’s probably better that way.
One day we’ll found out that Bill Clinton is a secret Juggalo and all hell’s gonna break loose.
