I’m taking the demographic data from a New York Times article. In 2008, the split was something like 53/45 which means there are still a ton of Democrats out there.

All the Dixiecrats are long gone. WIshing demographic oblivion on a group that supposedly represents the best (see Destro’s #5) of the Democrats seems kind of self defeating to me.
