Myths of the American Revolution: A Noted Historian Debunks the Conventional Wisdom About America's War of Independence

Fascinating read. However the author didn’t mention one thing.

One of the Intolerable Acts was unrelated to those Acts passed in reaction to The Boston Tea Party, i.e. The Coercive Acts.

The Quebec Act, although passed by the same Parliament, was unrelated to the events in Boston. The reason it was ‘intolerable’ was that the Quebec Act granted French Canadians the right to keep their religion and their laws. It was no longer necessary to convert to Protestantism to hold positions in the colony of Quebec.

It also, by defining the boundaries of Quebec, upset the plans of many colonists who were planning on land speculation and trade.

Yes, one of the Acts that triggered the American Revolution angered Americans because it granted rights to other people and screwed up their plans to get rich.

Funny how that gets overlooked.
