In the USA we have the left calling for a draft to be looked at after the Iraq war showed so few Americans serving. As an alternative to being drafted a national non military service was proposed. I do find that attractive. I m only bringing this up in the American context and I like using situations in other democracies to illuminate America’s issues. For example, I would ponder Canada’s health care system to see how we can improve the American situation where applicable.
