It could mean that you decided to cut ties to give the false illusion of independence, or that they are just passing it to you indirectly now, or that they decided that you aren’t worth the cost/benefit, or any of a million other possibilities. But about the last thing I’d think is that you did it on principle. In fact, keeping your funding secret merely makes me suspect a desire to hide collusion with various groups, considering your history as industry propaganda shills.
