I am going to take another approach. For some reason in the USA, going to a psychiatrist is still seen as a bad thing. We don’t know much about the human condition but we have such bad healthcare that mental health in America is neglected. For example, would you vote for a candidate for president who sees a therapist? Seeing a mental health therapist should be as stigma inducing as seeing a dentist.
Also, we have a Darwinian social model that casts off ‘losers’ into the pit of fire and this seems to create cases were people who are marginal mentally healthy snap and go on mass killing sprees and they target everyone because everyone is in on the Darwinian social model. When we had reports of bullying in school stories I was shocked (I should not have been) at how many adults on forums downplayed bullying and even said it was a good thing because it prepared children for a tough world, etc. I am not syaing this case was a result of bullying, just showing how societal attitudes when filtered onto the individual level can be harmful to sensitive psyches
