Scozzofava Officially Backs Owens
It’s official: Republican Dede Scozzofava has endorsed Democrat Bill Owens in the NY-23 special election.
Doug Hoffman’s camp is calling her a traitor, but they were doing that already.
Those in the camp of the Conservative candidate Douglas L. Hoffman called Ms. Scozzafava a turncoat.
“This afternoon Dede Scozzafava betrayed the GOP,“ Senior Communications Advisor Rob Ryan said in a statement. “She endorsed a Pelosi Democrat who will spend more, tax more, and push the liberal agenda that is dragging down this nation.”
Sunday Night Video: ‘Between’
This very inventive, very creepy short film is by Tim Bollinger, titled “Between.”
Tech Note: The Retweet Button
Our latest addition to The Blog codebase is a button to let you “retweet” an LGF article. “Retweeting” is a common way for people to spread interesting content around on Twitter. Since each article is already automatically posted to Twitter, your tweet is prefaced with the standard Twitter syntax to show that it’s a retweet from the LGF Twitter account, with the letters “RT’ for ReTweet, followed by the ‘@’ symbol and the username of the original tweetist: ‘RT @lizardoid’.
The code is basically John Resig’s Easy Retweet Button, with the CSS styles extracted into my main CSS file instead of embedded in the Javascript. This retweet function uses the LGF account with bit.ly, a URL shortener that tracks statistics; the number shown above the green Retweet button is the number of incoming clicks from the bit.ly URL for that article — in other words, the Twitter traffic for that article.
Right now, the Retweet button is only visible on the individual page for an article (either with or without comments) at the lower left of main article, next to the rating buttons.
UPDATE at 11/1/09 6:45:11 pm:
Retweet buttons are now on the front page, too, unless bit.ly lets me know the server load is too much.
Doug Hoffman: The Glenn Beck Candidate
What exactly does Doug Hoffman stand for? And who is he standing with? Would you believe … Glenn Beck?
At the endorsements page of Doug Hoffman For Congress, we find a link to the “Gold List” at 912candidates.org, consisting of politicians who have “pledged their sacred honor” to uphold the Glenn Beck 9/12 Project’s “9 Principles and 12 Values.”

Scozzofava Endorsing Former Opponent?
The Watertown Daily Times, in New York’s 23rd congressional district, switches their endorsement from Republican Dede Scozzofava to Democrat Bill Owens — and they report that Scozzofava is doing the same.
During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.
The editors of the Watertown Daily Times don’t think much of cypher Doug Hoffman, new hero of far right politicians and bloggers:
Mr. Hoffman is running as an ideologue. If he carries out his pledges on earmarks, taxation, labor law reform and other inflexible positions, Northern New York will suffer. This rural district depends on the federal government for an investment in Fort Drum and its soldiers, environmental protection of our international waterway and the Adirondack Park, and the livelihood of all our dairy farmers across the district, among other support. Our representative cannot be locked into rigid promises and policies that would jeopardize these critical sectors of our economy. …
It is frightening that Mr. Hoffman is so beholden to right-wing ideologues who dismiss Northern New Yorkers as parochial when people here simply want to know how Mr. Hoffman will protect their interests in Washington.

I'd take the conservative party over the republicans or dhimmicrats any day.
