Breitbart.com Caught Again: Deceptively Editing a Video

Yet another dishonest editing job from the heirs of Breitbart
Wingnuts • Views: 45,695

In yet another humiliating attempt to catch the Obama campaign in a hidden video conspiratorial outrageous outrage, the heirs of Andrew at Breitbart.com have creatively edited a video of a lecture by Harvard Law School Prof. Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., to make it look like he was admitting hiding a supposed damning bit of “evidence:” that Barack Obama was a closer friend to Prof. Derrick Bell than they wanted known.

Unfortunately for the reactionaries at Breitbart.com, they had to cut out some important context to make it look that way.

[Link: www.breitbart.com…]

Footage of Barack Obama praising and hugging Professor Derrick Bell. It was spliced and diced by the media to avoid showing just how close Obama was to Bell. More than that, a close associate of the Obama campaign, Harvard Law School’s Professor Charles Ogletree, admitted on our exclusive tape, ‘We hid this throughout the 2008 campaign. I don’t care if they find it now.

— Ben Shapiro

[Emphasis mine]

Here is a short video showing that Prof. Ogletree wasn’t talking about the Obama campaign hiding that portion of the video; in reality, he was completing a humorous jab at some of his colleagues who also attended the same 1991 gathering as Obama and Bell.

Uh, and this is … you can see this is 1990, so this is 21 years ago.

None of these people look like this today [laughter] and I know they’re going to be afraid or mad that I found this but it’s a good example.

[quiet laughter]

Let me see if I can get this, uh, to work…

Now what makes this so interesting, when you think about it, uh it’s uh, of course we hid this throughout the 2008 campaign so don’t… [laughter] … I don’t care if they find it now but uh, because it just told you that his growth had been, uh, astronomical in terms of his sense about race …

Please notice: he was joking about his colleagues and himself looking older, not seriously “admitting” to hiding anything.

Just so it can’t be claimed my edited video segment was intended to change the meaning, here is a longer version.

Here is a link to the entire lecture.

Jonathan Coulton: Sticking It to Myself

I’m the man now, and I’m sticking it to myself

In honor of the shiny-faced mini-Breits at Breitbart.com, who’ve provided us with a hilarious week’s worth of wingnut fake outrages, capped off by breaking all existing links on all sites to all their previous articles, here’s Jonathan Coulton and Phil Hernandez with “Sticking It To Myself.”

Here’s an Amazon widget with more samples from this great album; click through and buy the record, and we’ll get a small commission from Amazon.

Soledad O’Brien on Breitbart’s Bombshell: ‘Where’s the Bombshell?’

Stunned by the idiocy
Wingnuts • Views: 34,285

In this CNN clip, Breitbart.com editor Joel Pollak is grilled by Soledad O’Brien in a way I wish more journalists would follow. Instead of just nodding along as Pollak blatantly misrepresents the work of Harvard’s first black tenured law professor, Derrick Bell, O’Brien tells Pollak that he’s full of it, and keeps asking him, “What part of that was the bombshell? ‘Cause I don’t get it.” Beautiful.

It’s almost cute, in a highly dysfunctional way, to see Pollak doing his best to emulate the departed Andrew by turning it into an attack on Soledad O’Brien — and failing miserably.

Breitbart Brain Trust Completely Destroys Own Websites

Breitbart’s heirs: the C team

At Breitbart.com, all the little mini-Breits are scurrying around today, still trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear and hype their absurdly stupid attacks on President Obama for introducing Prof. Derrick Bell at Harvard 21 years ago.

Oh wait, I forgot — Obama hugged Prof. Bell too. When two black men hug, the republic is in horrible danger.

The latest smear they’re trying to float: they’re calling Prof. Bell a “racialist,” which is, of course, the term that white nationalists often use to describe themselves. Classy! OBAMA: ‘Open Up Your Hearts and Your Minds’ to Racialist Prof.

But meanwhile, as they were preparing to unleash this mind-shattering BOMBSHELL on the world, and destroy Barack Obama’s chances of reelection, they actually did succeed in destroying something besides their reputation — their own website.

Check out what happens if you click on any link at Google to articles at Big Government, Big Journalism, or Big Peace.

Yes, it’s true. All the direct links to old articles at all the “Big” sites are broken. They all redirect to the front page of Breitbart.com.

That means no one who’s searching for an article at one of their sites can get to it through Google or Yahoo or Bing or any other search engine. I wonder how long it will take the Breitbart brain trust to notice that their traffic to thousands and thousands of articles has suddenly completely stopped? (Probably not long, now that I’m posting this.)

It’s been this way all week. When they redesigned Breitbart.com (and got rid of its news feed services), they apparently changed their URL schema without even thinking about what would happen to the millions of existing links out there, and completely hosed all of their search results.

And it’s not just search engines; all links to their old articles at all websites are broken. Links at blogs, news sites, places like Digg and Reddit and LGF — all broken.

And they haven’t even noticed yet.

These are the geniuses who are going to carry on Andrew Breitbart’s legacy.

Alexa’s statistics are not the most accurate, but their graph of biggovernment.com’s traffic shows what happens when you totally screw up all incoming links to old articles:

There Is No Such Thing Really as Professional Photographers

WAPO’s Glenn Kessler Gives Three “Pinocchios” To Claim of Doctored Emails
It has long been part of the Washington game for officials to discredit a news story by playing up errors in a relatively small part of it. Pfeiffer gives the impression that GOP operatives deliberately tried to "smear the president" with false, doctored e-mails. But the reporters involved have indicated they were told by their sources that these were summaries, taken from notes ...

Men Are Being Sexually Assaulted in the Military, but Nobody Is Talking About It — the Good Men Project
Our Soldiers are being raped...by our Soldiers. In the U.S. Military, annually, more men are being raped by men than women are being raped by men. Obesity is on the rise-- as is the incidence of Heart Disease, Diabetes, Stroke and various forms of Cancer. And, shockingly, diseases that had in the past begun in old age are now appearing at much earlier ages. A groundbreaking scientific study showed how easily (and inexpensively) the rate of occurrence of these and other serious illness could be greatly reduced-- but this information ...
