Wingnut Blogger Dan Riehl: ‘Get Over It, Britain - You’re a Second Rate, Semi-Degenerate Nation’

“A bunch of feckless wankers”
Wingnuts • Views: 33,332

For the most part, the right wing blogs have been desperately trying to ignore Romney’s amazing gaffeage in Britain, but one wingnut among them ventured fearlessly into the fray.

Another classic outburst from proud Internet caveman Dan Riehl, who clearly doesn’t appreciate our shared “Anglo-Saxon heritage:”

A Limp Wrist-Ed David Cameron Hits Back at Mitt Romney Over Olympic Doubts.

WharrgarblGet over it, Britain. You’re a second rate, semi-degenerate nation still on the way down because you went too far to the left too long ago for anyone to care about. Don’t expect us to wring our hands over what you losers did. We’re too busy fighting to make sure it doesn’t happen here.

I really give a flip about what David Cameron thinks. yawn … just be glad we continue to allow you to think you’re actually in the game on most things. Now, get out of our face and try to not screw up the Olympics more than you have already.

Mostly a bunch of feckless wankers if you ask me. Put a Gold Medal on that and aim it at the Queen’s arse. How ya liking America, now, mates? LOL

The prime minister has hit back at comments from the US presidential candidate Mitt Romney querying Britain’s readiness for the Olympics, urging the country to “put its best foot forward” and ensure they are remembered as “the friendly Games”.

On a visit to the Olympic Park with the London 2012 organising committee chairman, Lord Coe, before Friday’s opening ceremony, Cameron said the Games were an opportunity to promote Britain despite the gloomy economic backdrop.

Well, that was fun!!

Video: Romney in 2002, Boasting About DC Connections and Ability to Get Millions From the Government

“I am a big believer in getting money where the money is … Washington”
Politics • Views: 28,630

This is an interesting video that was posted by LGF author Randall Gross a couple of weeks ago; I tracked down the source and the original video for the full context.

The video was secretly shot by Democratic opponents of Romney in the 2002 Massachusetts governor’s election, and shows him boasting about his Washington connections and his success in getting millions of dollars from the federal government. The story’s originally from ABC News in March 2012, during the Republican primary race: EXCLUSIVE: In ‘02 Romney Touted D.C. Connections, Federal Funds.

Since so much of Mitt Romney’s attack on President Obama right now is the implication that businesses shouldn’t need a leg up from the government, it’s fascinating to see Romney happily bragging about his ability to finagle millions of dollars from the hated feds.

In a long-forgotten tape from the 2002 Massachusetts governor’s race obtained by ABC News, Mitt Romney is seen touting his Washington connections and his ability to get millions of taxpayer dollars from the federal government.

“I am big believer in getting money where the money is,” Romney says on the video, “The money is in Washington.”

The video, which was surreptitiously shot by Democratic opponents of Romney on Oct. 16, 2002, shows him addressing a group called the New Bedford Industrial Foundation. The Power Point presentation he uses lists ways to improve economic development in Massachusetts, including “boost federal involvement.”

“I want to go after every grant, every project, every department in Washington to assure that we are taking advantage of economic development opportunities,” Romney tells the group.

And while Romney now often criticizes his opponents for being Washington insiders, in this video he touts his Washington connections.

“I have learned from my Olympic experience that if you have people who really understand how Washington works and have personal associations there you can get money to help build economic development opportunities,” Romney says.

London Mayor Johnson: ‘There’s a Guy Called Mitt Romney Who Wants to Know if We’re Ready’

Mitt’s charm offensive partly successful
Politics • Views: 26,387

If Mitt Romney’s overseas trip is supposed to be a charm offensive, he’s got it half right; he managed to offend everyone in Britain on his first day. Here’s London Mayor Boris Johnson taking a poke at Mitt in a speech to a huge audience at the lighting of the Olympic cauldron in Hyde Park.

People are coming from around the world and they’re seeing us, and they’re seeing the greatest city on Earth, aren’t they? Now, there are some people who are coming from around the world who don’t yet know about all the preparations we’ve done to get London ready in the last seven years. I hear there’s a guy, there’s a guy called Mitt Romney, who wants to know whether we’re ready … he wants to know whether we’re ready.

Are we ready?

[Huge cheer.]

Romney’s Gaffetastic Trip to the UK

Smashing

Mitt Romney’s trip to Britain is not exactly going swimmingly: Mitt Romney Rebuked by David Cameron in London Visit.

Mr Romney Goes to London: barely having exited the threshold of the prime minister’s residence, the American candidate blurts that he is now in the club with British intelligence.

For our American readership, this isn’t like bragging you just met David Petraeus. The British take on the national secret intelligence service comes with an extra-heavy dollop of the whole secret thing. The very existence of the MI6 was not officially acknowledged until 1994.

Good luck, Romney handlers: this is only stop No. 1 on a three-stop international tour.

The IRS division responsible for flagging Tea Party groups has long been an agency afterthought, beset by mismanagement, financial constraints and an unwillingness to spell out just what it expects from social welfare nonprofits, former officials and experts say. 4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter.
