Your Bigoted Fear-Mongering All-Caps #Breitbart.com Headline of the Day

Muslims under the bed at Breitbart.com
Wingnuts • Views: 39,404

Breitbart.com raver “William Bigelow” (who may or may not be a real person), last seen at LGF when he was assuring the wingnut audience that there was no such thing as a “white Hispanic,” gives us our fear-mongering all-caps headline of the day, complete with a scary burqa dominating a US flag: OBAMA ADMINISTRATION PAVES THE WAY FOR SHARIA LAW.

This kind of bigoted, moronic incitement is especially disgusting and inappropriate, coming immediately after a mass murder attack by a xenophobic neo-Nazi. The loons at right wing sites like Breitbart.com don’t even see incidents like the Sikh temple shootings as a warning sign — they just redouble their hate speech. And the right wing base loves it, eats it up like noxious candy.

The most harrowing prospect is the Obama Administration’s passivity in the face of attempts to introduce aspects of sharia law into our legal system. Now there is strong and open evidence of the Obama administration collaborating with Islamist activists to ensure the path toward sharia law is accelerated.

Just last week, Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division, was asked this question by Trent Franks (R-AZ), a member of the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution: “Will you tell us here today that this Administration’s Department of Justice will never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?”

Perez refused to answer. Four times.

Here’s the video referred to by “William Bigelow” in this twisted example of wingnut agitprop. Notice what really goes on here: Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez is being hectored and interrupted by Birther congressman Trent Franks of Arizona, in one of those ludicrous GOP hearings on the scary Muslims hiding among us with their stealth shariah jihad.

Fox Covers the Olympics: Gabby Douglas Has ‘Lost That Jingoistic Feeling’

Keeping the Fox audience dumb and angry
Wingnuts • Views: 30,460

So how is Fox News covering the Olympics?

They’re attacking gymnast Gabby Douglas for not having that “jingoistic feeling” (yes! he really said that!) and not wearing a flag costume with flag pins and a flag hat.

Somebody should let Tea Party idiot David Webb know that “jingoism” is not generally regarded as a positive quality. Synonyms for jingoism include:

Extreme patriotism, chauvinism, extreme nationalism, xenophobia, flag-waving; hawkishness, militarism, belligerence, bellicosity.

Fox is also attacking tennis maestro Serena Williams in an ugly race-baiting article that’s all over the Fox network, but most notably at their sewer-fest, Fox Nation, where they headlined it:

Serena Does the ‘Crip Walk’ - 2012 Olympics - Fox Nation

What a coincidence, huh? The athletes singled out for character assassination by Fox News just happen to be black females. What are the odds?

Awesome Photo of the Day: Parachuting to Mars

A stunning success

NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter captured this astounding image of the Curiosity Rover descending to the surface of Mars.

NASA’s Curiosity rover and its parachute were spotted by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter as Curiosity descended to the surface on Aug. 5 PDT (Aug. 6 EDT). The High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera captured this image of Curiosity while the orbiter was listening to transmissions from the rover. Curiosity and its parachute are in the center of the white box; the inset image is a cutout of the rover stretched to avoid saturation. The rover is descending toward the etched plains just north of the sand dunes that fringe “Mt. Sharp.” From the perspective of the orbiter, the parachute and Curiosity are flying at an angle relative to the surface, so the landing site does not appear directly below the rover.

The parachute appears fully inflated and performing perfectly. Details in the parachute, such as the band gap at the edges and the central hole, are clearly seen. The cords connecting the parachute to the back shell cannot be seen, although they were seen in the image of NASA’s Phoenix lander descending, perhaps due to the difference in lighting angles. The bright spot on the back shell containing Curiosity might be a specular reflection off of a shiny area. Curiosity was released from the back shell sometime after this image was acquired.

This view is one product from an observation made by HiRISE targeted to the expected location of Curiosity about one minute prior to landing. It was captured in HiRISE CCD RED1, near the eastern edge of the swath width (there is a RED0 at the very edge). This means that the rover was a bit further east or downrange than predicted.

The image scale is 13.2 inches (33.6 centimeters) per pixel.

Sikh Temple Shooter Was Member of White Supremacist Band - Update: Police Looking for ‘Person of Interest’

Domestic terrorism
Crime • Views: 31,262

Today we learn that the alleged mass murderer who attacked a Sikh temple in Wisconsin yesterday before being shot and killed by police was a far right white supremacist and Army veteran, and a former member of a skinhead hate band.

The man who allegedly murdered six people at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee yesterday, identified in media reports as Wade Michael Page, was a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band.

In 2010, Page, then the leader of the band End Apathy, gave an interview to the white supremacist website Label 56. He said that when he started the band in 2005, its name reflected his wish to “figure out how to end people’s apathetic ways” and start “moving forward.” “I was willing to point out some of my faults on how I was holding myself back,” Page said. Later, he added, “The inspiration was based on frustration that we have the potential to accomplish so much more as individuals and a society in whole.” He did not discuss violence in the interview.

Page told the website that he had been a part of the white power music scene since 2000, when he left his native Colorado on a motorcycle. He attended white power concerts in Georgia, North Carolina, West Virginia and Colorado.  At various times, he said, he also played in the hate rock bands Youngland (2001-2003), Celtic Warrior, Radikahl, Max Resist, Intimidation One, Aggressive Force and Blue Eyed Devils. End Apathy, he said, included “Brent” on bass and “Ozzie” on drums; the men were former members of Definite Hate and another band, 13 Knots.

In 2000, the Southern Poverty Law Center has found that Page also attempted to purchase goods from the neo-Nazi National Alliance, then America’s most important hate group.

UPDATE at 8/6/12 9:49:05 am

And he may not have been acting alone; police are looking for a “person of interest” with a 9/11 tattoo who was recording video of Sikhs after the shooting.

Growing, Lurking Threat: ‘Paper Terrorism’
How do you stop one anti-government extremist from coordinating a trillion dollar "paper terrorism" scheme involving a raft of false financial documents, or deal with another who sues prosecutors for allegedly conspiring against him by using poor grammar? Video: Mall Cop and Woman Fight Over Picture-Taking on Mall Property
How NOT to confront a group of people taking pics. The guard was probably withing her rights as the people were on private property, and management gets to disallow if they wish. But the nuance here is the people were taking pics from mall property not of mall property. Fortunately no guns were involved. But a genuine cop would have made all the difference. ...

4 Things We Should Remember When Arguing About Politics
Political discourse in America has reached levels of douchebaggery previously only theorized about but never observed, like conversational dark matter.
