Tech Note: New Category/Tag Indexes, Featured Pages Tooltips

More ways to browse LGF

A few new (or recently added) features to which I’d like to draw your attention:

  • Hovering over the category for an article, or any of its tags, pops up a tooltip listing the last five articles in that category or tag. The new feature: clicking on the category or tag now takes you to an index page for all articles with that category/tag. The index pages all have a ‘Show More Articles’ button at the bottom, allowing you to load 10 more articles in that category/tag.
  • New feature: hovering over the title of an LGF Page in the ‘Featured’ or ‘Recent’ sections now pops up a tooltip showing a plain text excerpt of that article.
  • Feature change: the maximum size for a user icon has been increased from 32K to 100K. (See Account Settings.)

Glenn Beck Building Ayn Rand-Inspired Utopia

Glenn’s Gulch?
Wingnuts • Views: 26,379

Glenn Beck has a dream. On Thursday, the former Fox News host, gold bug, survival-seed guru, movie star, and bestselling author unveiled plans for a new planned community—inspired by the Ayn Rand novel Atlas Shrugged—to be built at an undisclosed location somewhere in the United States*.

No, really:

Glenn believes that he can bring the heart and the spirit of Walt’s early Disneyland ideas into reality. Independence, USA wouldn’t be about rides and merchandise, but would be about community and freedom. The Marketplace would be a place where craftmen and artisan could open and run real small businesses and stores. The owners and tradesmen could hold apprenticeships and teach young people the skills and entrepreneurial spirit that has been lost in today’s entitlement state.

There would also be an Media Center, where Glenn’s production company would film television, movies, documentaries, and more. Glenn hoped to include scripted television that would challenge viewers without resorting to a loss of human decency. He also said it would be a place where aspiring journalists would learn how to be great reporters.

Well, you know I've been here many times, and only certain hours of the day when I'm here am I asleep; the rest of the time I'm actually awake. -- I have a filler on a dat with zappa being interrogated by a couple of swedish fans/state officers(who knows)...in which they are arguing over the pornographic contents of his work. he tells them he has been spying on them, and claims that their porno industry is bigger than that of the US. it's pretty funny. btw-this is from thew '88 tour.
