More ‘Gun Appreciation Day’ Sponsors: Birthers and Anti-Immigrant Militias

Deep in the weeds
Wingnuts • Views: 30,017

The more we look into the groups sponsoring “Gun Appreciation Day,” the more kooks and disturbing connections we find. LGF contributor Freetoken points out another sponsor with an unassuming name: the “Eidsness Community of Safety,” an Arizona survivalist-militia group.

Their Facebook page links to a “sister group,” American Civil Sentinels, where they’re heavy into Birtherism.

One of the guys behind this is a crackpot preacher named Dean C. Trivandian of the “Christian Party of America,” who runs a Yahoo group called God’s Vigilant Minutemen:

We are an autonomous, faith-based, grassroots, transpartisan, volunteer cooperative that exists to defend, inform, mobilize, and serve all God-fearing and patriotic Americans in matters regarding atheistic secularism, cosmic humanism, cultural Marxism, economic globalism, illegal immigration, jihadic Islamofascism, liberal socialism, moral relativism, Orwellian statism, and other encroachments of NWO/OWO tyranny.

I know, we’re getting pretty deep into the weeds here, but this is by no means an unusual set of connections; every time you start tracing one of these extreme right wing gun-obsessed groups you find these loons, preaching the imminent end of civilization and teaching members to stockpile their own private arsenals. Hundreds of heavily armed budding Branch Davidians yearning for civil war and violent revolution.

That’s who’s behind “Gun Appreciation Day:” Birthers, antisemites, religious fanatics, white supremacists, militias, neo-Nazis … and CNN contributor Erick Erickson’s Red State.

More White Supremacists Sponsoring “Gun Appreciation Day”

This event is lousy with racists and deranged conspiracy kooks

Following up on our previous post about the white supremacist hate group discovered to be sponsoring “Gun Appreciation Day,” the organizers may have removed “American Third Position” from their sponsor list, but A3P is not the only racist hate group on that list.

LGF contributor Gus noticed another interesting sponsor: Whiteout Press, a site that specializes in far right conspiracy theories and hate memes.

A quick look through their deranged website turns up this antisemitic article, originally published by National Vanguard — an outright neo-Nazi group: Is the Media Controlled by Jews?

Is the Media Controlled by Jews?

That used to be considered a crazy question only asked by bigots, anti-Semites and conspiracy theorists. However, one celebrity after another has fallen victim for simply admitting that the long-held notion is actually true. Beginning with Walt Disney, Henry Ford and Charles Limdbergh, the accusations have been leveled by Jews and non-Jews alike. Some Hollywood insiders who’ve been black-listed at one time or another for publically suggesting the television and movie industry is controlled by a cult-like Zionist underground network include; Oliver Stone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Marlon Brando, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, CNN’s Rick Sanchez, a chief National Public Radio executive and even the LA Times’ Joel Stein.

In fact, in his column in the LA Times (Dec. 19, 2008), Stein says that Americans who think the Jews do not control Hollywood and the media are just plain “dumb”. “Jews totally run Hollywood” Stein proudly admits. He then goes on to provide a long, long list of Hollywood and media chiefs to prove his point. All of them - Jews. They include:

  • Fox News President Peter Chernin
  • Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey
  • Walt Disney CEO Robert Igor
  • Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton
  • Warner Brothers Chairman Barry Meyer
  • CBS CEO Leslie Moonves
  • MGM Chairman Harry Sloan
  • NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker.
  • Even the head of the Actors’ Union, the Screen Actors Guild, Alan Rosenberg, is a Jew.

Isn’t that lovely? These are the people behind Gun Appreciation Day.

“Gun Appreciation Day” Sponsored by White Supremacists

What right wing racism?

The gun-crazy right wing is holding an event tomorrow called “Gun Appreciation Day,” in which they’ll all take out their weapons, gaze lovingly at them, and lavish attention on them. Maybe take them out to brunch.

And one of the sponsors of this lovely family-friendly event is a white supremacist hate group.

Gun Appreciation Day, a prominent effort backed by conservative media outlets and activists to oppose new gun laws, has accepted the sponsorship of a white nationalist organization to promote and mobilize supporters for its January 19 event.

Gun Appreciation Day (GAD) is partnering with the American Third Position (A3P), a political group that describes itself as representing “the unique political interests of white Americans.” According to a party official, the organization is composed of “white nationalists.”

GAD’s organizers ask supporters to visit “gun stores, gun counters, gun shows, and gun ranges to protest the Obama administration’s post Sandy Hook assault on gun rights.” The event has received significant media coverage and promotion in recent days.

GAD lists A3P on its “sponsors” page along with its logo, motto (“Liberty. Sovereignty. Identity”) and a link to American3rdPosition.com. Other sponsors include prominent conservative media outlets like RedState, the right-wing blog edited by CNN contributor Erick Erickson. The event’s main page asks visitors to “Please Support Our Sponsors.”

A screenshot of the A3P logo on the sponsors page:

Shortly after this article appeared online, the organizers of “Gun Appreciation Day” removed American Third Position from their list of sponsors. Yeah, that solves the problem.

The Democrats’ Lost Decade?
Democrats fell far short of winning the House in 2012, an otherwise banner year for the party, and many are privately glum about taking back the chamber in 2014. But that grim immediate outlook raises a far more troubling longer-term prospect for Democrats: that the newly drawn congressional lines have tilted the electoral playing field so decisively in the GOP's favor that the party ...

Reuters: But even the press in aggregate is not a friend to whistle-blowers, as its recent treatment of Snowden attests, what with the deep dives into his teen years (including photos), his education and employment history, his reputation as a loner and a “brainiac,” his pants-down hijinks, his online scribblings, his dancer girlfriend, his predilection for (in his own words) “post-coital Krispy Kremes.” Squeezing ...

Study: Reading Fiction Makes People Comfortable With Ambiguity
Are you uncomfortable with ambiguity? It's a common condition, but a highly problematic one. The compulsion to quell that unease can inspire snap judgments, rigid thinking, and bad decision-making. Fortunately, new research suggests a simple antidote for this affliction: Read more literary fiction. A trio of University of Toronto scholars, led by psychologist Maja Djikic, report that people who have just read a short ...
