NYT finally telling more of the facts: 56 firefighters passed that test and 15 were black or Hispanic

City wanted to promote only two. They could have promoted the two highest scores or used a lottery. But instead, dumped everybody, out of fear of ANOTHER discrimination lawsuit from blacks. A lawsuit in 1994 ended up with city hiring by quota instead of test results.
Meanwhile, the one Hispanic who joined the Ricci lawsuit against discrimination in favor of blacks was beaten up by blacks and shunned by other Hispanics as a turncoat and “uncle Tom.”
