7.5 inches by 11 inches on the front page, top, of Sunday’s printed NYT, they shout their blame for the mortgage mess: Bush
[The fault, according to the NYT headline, is that of the Republican Administration. Always catering to the poor and the minorities, those bleeding heart Republicans. The headline, “White House Philosophy Stoked Mortgage Bonfire”, distorts the picture by filtering out the Dem role, including the CRA law that punished banks for not investing in poor neighborhoods, the role of Fanny and Freddy in buying up the junk that the banks produced so they would have no risk in being reckless, the role of Barney Frank in preventing limitations on the power of Fanny and Freddy, and the plain fact that the 3 leading Congressional recipients of money from Fanny and Freddy were 1) Dodd, chairman of Senate Banking Committee, 2) Obama, and 3) Barney Frank.]
[The NYT headline writer has shown once again that the main power to distort lies in what is omitted.]
