Boo, hoo:U.S. Missile kills 7 in northwest Pakistan
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — Intelligence officials and a witness say a suspected U.S. missile strike has killed at least seven people in volatile northwest Pakistan.
Yar Mohammad, a villager, said a fortlike house was destroyed and that local Taliban pulled out seven bodies while cordoning off the scene. He said he heard a drone aircraft circling the area before the attack Monday morning. The intelligence officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to the media, confirmed the strike.
The U.S. has carried out a series of missile strikes in recent months in Pakistan’s lawless tribal areas, targeting al-Qaida and Taliban militants blamed for attacks across the border in Afghanistan. Pakistan has criticized the missile strikes as infringement of its sovereignty.
