Good news: Egypt installs tunnel-detection devices along border with Gaza Strip

Yaakov Katz, jpost: “Egypt began installing advanced cameras and sensors last week to help combat smuggling along the Philadelphi Corridor [the border area with the Gaza Strip], Egyptian officials confirmed Saturday.”

” ‘They started being installed 2 days ago,’ an Egyptian official told The Jerusalem Post. ‘We are installing them with the help of American, French and German experts.’ “

“The equipment is being installed to help Egypt prevent ‘all kinds of smuggling,’ the source said.”

“The sensors are capable of detecting digging or construction.”

Hamas is a proxy for Iran. And that thought should be a sobering one to the Arab world, and to Europe, and of course to America. The options with regard to the Hamas/Iran missile and terrorism threat are: (1) contain it, or (2) let it metastasize.

going to have to be up to Israel as the current US administration will adopt a hands off attitude……. until it is too late. Then it will be GWBs fault.

Hamas is a proxy of Iran and a local offshoot of the Muslim Brothers, founded in Egypt and the largest global Islamic Movement whose goal is a global Islamic state. So for the ruling Baath party in Egypt there are two extremely important interests involved that are also inter-related - stopping Iran from replacing Egypt and Saudi Arabia as the regional superpower and the threat to the ruling Baath party from within by the Islamic opposition. On the other hand stopping Hamas armament against Israel could be interpreted as weakness and treachery and Egypt also has various technical difficulties in stopping the smuggling.

But it’s not only an Egyptian interest, but also a major Western interest - lending victory to the radicals and turning Gaza and the West Bank into an Iranian and Muslim Brothers stronghold might have serious effect on the regional balance and will strengthen the Islamic radicals in the MidEast at the expense of the more moderate regimes. That will also be very bad for the people of the MidEast because even if some of them find the radicals appealing now they will regret it after living a while under brutal theocratic rule, but won’t be able to change it - just ask the Iranian people.

Unfortunately, the Western Pravda and far left academics seem incapable of taking any of these facts seriously and are addicted to the paradigm that Israel is the regional bully and must be stopped at any cost, and that Hamas are freedom fighters dedicated to better the lives of ordinary Palestinians and freeing them from the occupation of the brutal imperialist-colonialist Nazi apartheid Jews, and if only that was to happen the MidEast conflict will end, the radicals will lose their effect and power to recruit, the Muslim world will stop hating the West and US in particular for supporting Israel and the world will become a much safer place.

In order for that to happen Western Pravda needs to recruit the masses in the West to pressure the Western governments. And in order to recruit the masses Western Pravda has to hide the true nature and stated goals of Hamas and its alliance and demonize Israel. And that is exactly what they do.

And in our world of moral and cultural relativism and denial many people aren’t even capable of telling the difference between violent oppressive theocracy with global ambitions and their own liberal democracies.
