A wonderful good news story - gift of a kidney from a mate to a mate
The wonderful human spirit still thrives
YESTERDAY afternoon, Christy Browning headed into John Hunter Hospital and waited for her husband.
Later, after more than five hours of surgery, Luke Browning was brought in from recovery, still unconscious and with one kidney less than he started the day with. Here, in a Newcastle hospital ward, is a noble man.
Near on 18 months ago Luke and Christy, along with friend Doug Bruce, were at Narrabri’s Crossing Theatre watching Stardust.
Just 10 minutes into the movie Mr Bruce got sick. His kidneys were failing.
Luke, 27, with a wife and two kids and a third on the way, walked him out and returned to his wife. “Something has got to be done,” he said.
