Suprise, suprise. So much for beating the virus home last week (came through IAD on Sunday). Back to washing hands…

people who recently traveled to Mexico and California

I’m sorry to be a broken record, but why would the feds have sent a million courses of Tamiflu to CA if there’s really only 8 cases there?

It doesn’t add up, at all.

This virus is spreading *FAST.* Look as the two schools in the NYC area that are now closed— one stated they had 150 students with symptoms, virus was suspected to have come back with a group that went to Mexico for spring break. These are apparently teens— now what happens when the virus hits the 20-50 age group? Looks like a bumpy ride for now…

LA County:
ktla.com

Notice that the LA County Health Dept told the Archdiocese to keep the school open, but the Archdiocese chose to behave responsibly.

Also notice:

Dr. Mark Horton, director of the California Department of Public Health said that about one-fourth of the federal stockpile of 5 million courses of vaccines targeting the disease have been sent to Sacramento for possible distribution to local jurisdictions, if needed.

It really doesn’t add up, and the advice from the LA County Health Dept is very, very troubling, IMHO.

re: #4 funky chicken

Especially under a declared “Public Health Emergency” that apparently means “move along, nothing to see here.” WTH make a declaration if you’re not going to have people taking relevant precautions?

Dr. Gil Chavez, deputy director of the state Center for Infectious Disease, says the cases include five in San Diego County, five in Imperial County and one in Sacramento County.

Only two required hospitalization and those people had other underlying health conditions.

Chavez says the state now is awaiting lab results on two more probable cases from the federal Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. Chavez says California will be able to begin conducting its own testing Tuesday.

State health officials also said they are looking into another dozen possible cases.

and

The county also planed to test samples taken in recent days from patients with flu-like symptoms in Corona, the Coachella Valley, and the Temecula area, Cole said.
