Right. New York Post. Would have to verify the stated opening date. The New York Post is not a very trustworthy organization.
From said article I find this part rather distasteful:
A rally against the mosque is planned for June 6, D-Day, by the human-rights group Stop Islamicization of America. Executive director Pamela Geller said, “What could be more insulting and humiliating than a monster mosque in the shadow of the World Trade Center buildings that were brought down by an Islamic jihad attack? Any decent American, Muslim or otherwise, wouldn’t dream of such an insult. It’s a stab in the eye of America.”
People are going to have to find another route if they want to oppose this mosque. I suggest that they first review the Establishment Clause first:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Yes, I find myself, as an atheist, in the odd position of defending a religious organization that often is at odds with my own beliefs. Regardless, we must respect the law of the land and other peoples’ freedoms even if they’re not our own.

The construction of a mosque at ground zero is a carefully considered symbolic action.
Traditionally, in Islam, a mosque is built next to, or on top of, a church of synagogue in newly conquered territory.
A mosque is fine, just not there.
I find it more than distasteful, it’s nauseating.

Immunity from being offended is not a right.
The Establishment Clause overrules everything in this case unless there is an actual violation of zoning or building codes.
This is the United States of America not the People’s Republic of China.
