I saw a thing awhile ago, a tea party group having a conference call where they said, "we have babies, they have dependents"

I'm trying to think of a way 'target the mothers' isn't just a nasty, foul thing to say.

There isn't one.

What a prick.

No fucking way...

And they still swear they aren't racists...

In a strategy conference call with supporters Monday, anti-illegal immigrant group NumbersUSA geared up to counter a large immigration reform rally planned for next week in Washington. Conference call participants suggested Mexican women in the States should be branded as “the new welfare queens” and that their children should not be referred to as “babies” but as “dependents.” “We have babies. They have dependents,” said one caller.

Oh and welfare queens too.

Oh. So their babies aren't babies. They're something else. This is some really sick shit.

Yep, no doubt.

These are the same people who say they are behind the Constitution "100%".

Except that little part about being born here makes you a citizen. I wonder exactly what percentage of the Constitution that is.

They are. As it was originally written + the Bill of Rights (and I'm not positive they're in favor of all of those...). I suspect they think all this amending stuff has been to our detriment.

I'd like to trade these in for some new ones.

And also, a more than backhanded stab at our current President. I thought the left had gone loony before, but the right is just as capable of showing themselves to be absolute, intolerant, buffoons.

Next up, a bill banning smokers, people with crazy mothers-in-laws, and anyone with two daughters, from being eligible for presidential nomination.

Please God, make it stop. The stupid, it burns!

I have to agree with you there KT, I think in the other thread they are developing quite a list of "Famous American Anchor Babies"....

.... and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that A3P is trying to get on the ballot in AZ. Haven't heard of them? Here's a Stephen Lemmons on them.

[Link: blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com...]

Stephen has a tendency to wax a bit hyperbolic in his opinion, but I've never once caught him being wrong in fact or even analysis.

"the Republican message I'm hearing is that every infant is beautiful and precious (see: abortion) unless it comes from a dirty Mexican."

I'm a pro-choice person, and staunchly so, but it made me sad to read that.

Especially since the nicest, most respectful people I've met who I've interviewed for the Census have been Mexican.

Gee, and my ex once accused me of not being emotional enough.

This makes the intent of the bill's authors a little clearer: to de-Mexicanize Arizona. Nativists are proud of the bill, but it's a last stand.

Demographics and birth rates don't lie, and Hispanics are the true sleeping giant in American politics. Already 30% of AZ's population, they will be the majority within 40 years.

Using the pejorative 'Anchor Babies' to dehumanize and deface American citizens is unAmerican.

QFT. You're born here, you're one of us, and it's been that way for a long time now.
