President Obama is skipping the traditional Memorial Day visit to Arlington National Cemetery, a move that has dismayed some veterans — and comes at a sensitive moment in the administration’s relationship with the military.

Curt, this is an absolute nontroversy. Arlington is not the end all of veteran's resting places. There are very worthy veterans buried elsewhere.

I'm getting the picture: If you dislike the topic, you down ding it.
It was a statement of fact, and yes, it indicated some people had an issue with it, but it also contained an explanation of why the President would be in Chicago, from the Washington Post, so is it worth making an issue over? It's news. Did I make any comment otherwise? Is it some belief that merely linking to the Washington Post is a smear on the President?

Thanks. I've always found that take a deep breath, or counting to 10 thing is useful many time....I see no one has even clicked to read the article yet (but I a -2 so far).
At the end of the article, it summarizes the last several President's visits and Ronald Reagan didn't go one year, Bush 41 not at all, and GWB not until 2003. Bill Clinton did all 8 years. Who knew...there may have been useful facts contained for your own "discussions" today...:)

OK, I'm confused. I tried reversing my negative ding but then it goes to a positive ding. Guess it's not the end of the world.
Anyway, Curt, as you note, this is not the first time this has happened. I initially down dinged it because I've seen this story repeated over the past few days with no note of the previous occurrences.
I'll leave that upding stand even though I don't endorse the repetition of this story. BTW, downdings to links don't apply to your Karma rating.

I scan for negatives and they used to indicate stories that were off the mark and utter BS, rather than factual based reports. If it was on an obvious opinion piece (based on the source line), then I take it as controversy. I up and down ding like that, and it's not about karma, but more the value of the link for others to see.
I also know the "system" doesn't let a repeat link end up here. Since it was a 5/27 story, I figured it was current enough.
