Good job, Killgore.

Good job, Killgore.

Hopefully this will backfire on Reuters. They were trying to hide the weapon but if their dishonest editing gets enough publicity it will just publicize the evidence they were trying to hide.

C'mon guys, they were just cropping to the pertinent parts... ///

Great find KT

Great find KT, and this clearly violates the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles. In particular, #3:

That Thomson Reuters shall supply unbiased and reliable news services to newspapers, news agencies, broadcasters and other media subscribers and to businesses governments, institutions, individuals and others with whom Thomson Reuters has or may have contracts;

Cropping the image to eliminate the knife introduces bias against Israel and eliminates culpability on the part of the activists. It is clearly misleading and is newsworthy for its propaganda value as opposed to revealing the factual circumstances.

It also takes out one of the possible sources of injury to the soldier whose blood you see.

FWIW I've tweeted to my measly 109 tweeps...

It's also interesting that these pictures were originally published by a Turkish paper. They aren't bothered by the knife. Reuters decided that the knife might look bad for their international audience so they removed it.

re: #5 Thanos

The soldiers main injury seems to be the palm of with hand, probably from defending himself against a knife attack.

Okay the flash may have messed with his eyes but I think his "main" injury is his head, if only because he is off his feet. Of course you are right about the blood source I think. What a horrible moment for a good soldier.

The crop is bad. But as far as I can tell the whole picture has been cropped out of public view.

Also: any way to be sure that the photo was cropped by Reuters rather than by that website "daylife"?
