‘Thirty-Minute Missiles’: Nuclear Powers Fret Over US Quick-Strike Plans
The headline is shocking but the “Quick Strike” talked about is with singular non nuclear ICBMs. This is a capability first envisioned and explored under President Bush, back in 2006 I wrote a post speculating that perhaps Rumsfeld was discussing the same and possible protocols with his counterpart when they met in Fairbanks Ak.
The Obama administration wants to develop a global non-nuclear, quick-strike missile defense system. But one downside is that the weapons could confuse Russia and China and spark a nuclear response. US national defense analyst David E. Mosher of the RAND Corporation explains the new idea in a SPIEGEL ONLINE interview.
You have to wonder if the conservatives who supported it back then will now oppose it because Obama’s admin is pushing it?
