The plot involves arranging for a child to be born in the United States — then training them in an isolated environment abroad, ready to dispatch them back here to commit violence after a quick two or three decades.

Yep. This seems to be the nirther account of Obama, pretty much.

When in doubt about selling their xenophobia, the nutty-right will work in the terrorism angle.

When in doubt, try science fiction.

Every time Gomer opens his mouth he manage to outdo his previous conspiracy theories or kookiness. This time he’s talking about Jihadi harvesting of “jus soli babies” to return as Jihadi Spawn right under our noses!

In their attempt to trample on the 14th Amendement they’ve gone from “the Mexicans are coming!” to “it’s about those Mooslim terrorist babies!”

Yep. It’s also yet another cover of that rockin’ GOP campaign tune, “The Democrats can’t be trusted to keep you safe. BOO!”

The really sick part is when you remember that it was the Republican Party that pushed the 14th Amendment through Congress and forced the southern states to ratify it. Those attacking it are literally attacking their own party’s heritage. They’re so out there that National Review actually ran an article to explain why they are wrong.

Yes, I remember you mentioning the NRO article— I saved the link you gave and I will check it out. I’ll check it out as soon as I can. Hope you’re well today DF!

Thanks, ice. I’m doing OK. The tough part of my new job starts on Monday, but I’m confident that I’ll succeed.

Ordinarily I’d suspect that a politician who talked this way was pandering to extremists for political points.

But this is Louie Gohmert, and I have no doubt he actually believes this insane fantasy. Of all the GOP politicians in Texas, Gohmert may be the dumbest. In fact, might be the dumbest GOP politician in the entire US, which is really saying something.

I agree—he comes across as absolutely sincere about what he’s saying. He must’ve had an extra bowl of stupid for breakfast.

Excellent post ice.

These guys would make a great Monty Python skit if it wasn’t sadly for real.
