Web only....

I didn't see it on TV.... Did you?

Did MSNBC, CBS News, CNN, or even Fox News do the story?

Rachel Maddow? Keith O?

Morning with Joe?

re: #1 Buck

Who watches TV for news? Coffee and internet. I watch TV to see old movies, I mean Classic Films.

Also, I don't think TV breaks news anymore. They are all so rating driven that they test a story on blogs and the internet, and if it gets enough hits, then they will broadcast it--unless there is some natural disaster, which is always news. But Foot-in-Mouth isn't breaking news. So this story will probably be broadcast next week.

After the Dan Rather incident, networks are a little reticent to report. LGF is History. I mean, to be written about and studied. This site changed everything in terms of news and communications.

Bob.... Mainstream Media has to mean the same thing for everyone, or it has no meaning at all.

The largest distribution channels, which represent where the majority of media consumers get their news is still TV News.

Stone spouted extreme racism, and with the Iran connection he endorsed hardcore misogamy and homophobia.

Imagine for just one minute the reaction if the exact same remarks were from a church leader,,,Rick Warren for example...

It was just his ties to anti-gay Anglican religious figures that made everyone crazy....

(I am not defending Rick Warren. I am trying to make a point about media bias, and bias in general)

Bottom line...you are going to hear a bunch of "Stone is Jewish, he can't be an antisemitic"... you are going to hear a bunch of "he just says stuff to be controversial, he doesn't mean it".

Buck, I really think TV news has changed, and Charles is the guy who made it change. There have been several stories that Charles broke that Sean Hannity then put on his TV show and then took credit.

Network news staffs have been chopped down to nothing, and what's left isn't all that competent.

I think they use the net as a giant focus group to decide what to put on the air.

Given this new paradigm for TV 'news'--they will have stories on later than the web, by several days.

Not only that, but they've built in deniability--notice that several of these mainstream organs broke the story through blogs--so they can either take credit for being on the cutting edge or saying that they had nothing to do with the story, because it was just a blog.

I think you're right, it's drifting towards having no meaning at all. And that's the way they want it. Remember--it's all about selling advertising.
