Holy cow!
Un-fricken-believable.

I’ve been unmarried at times.
Held a good job.
Bought my own home.
Never once entered a welfare office.

Unbelievable.

Meanwhile White supremacist RSM has leapt to Phylis’ defense, saying she is right

I’ll point Ms. Schlafly my good friend, Sheena, who is top management at an international tech company and makes six figures.

Schlafly, you are insane.

This is the same type of archaic rhetoric that Schlafly was engaging in when she was lobbying against the Equal Rights Amendment. This dinosaur hasn’t changed a bit.

So despite the fact that I’ve worked hard and put myself through college and am going into grad school in a couple of weeks, the fact that I’m not married means I’m a welfare queen?

I’d say what I really think about that statement and about Phyllis Schlafly, but she’s not worth the energy or the post deletions. She’s just a miserable old cow who can’t accept that women now are capable of more than she ever was.

Right because insulting the poor and single mothers and most of the lower class is a great way to get elected.

She must be talking about me. I am unmarried, at the moment on on welfare. Never mind that is due to severe disability and that I cannot work at all. Never mind that the pittance I get each month barely covers bills and often doesn’t cover food.

Welfare is SO much fun. I get So much money being on welfare. $90.00 to cover food and just under $700/month to pay $650 worth of bills. Yeah. It’s a haven. All hail me…the welfare queen./sarcasm.

Unmarried men, on the other hand, see this and are filled with a profound sense of relief that they aren’t going to have to spend the rest of their lives waking up next to the likes of her.

The Right is really convinced of this.

When I was thinking of adopting a child, I asked my Rush-listening brother if he’d support that decision.
“No!”
“Why not?” I asked, surprised.
“Well, because you’d be an unmarried mother!”

Yeah, I’d be an unmarried mother with a tenured job at a major university with great health benefits making a very good salary. But suddenly I’d become a welfare queen?

So I adopted three children. Just to show him.
