A “Trojan Mosque”? *headdesk*

And this:

…in an open society, we are never exactly sure who the enemy combatants are because they may not shoot at you, or blow something up. They might smile and say “all we want is peace” while provoking you and stretching the limits of your societal tolerance, leaving their targets confused. All the while never defining what they mean by “peace.”

Simply being Muslim and living in America is all it takes to provoke some people.

This isn’t just about Park51. Basically, what this guy is saying is that no Muslim can be trusted because it’s impossible to know where their true allegiance lies. There’s only one solution to that sort of problem, isn’t there?

Just to make it perfectly clear where this creep is coming from:

Fourth generation warfare began as a concept developed by William Lind, a military tactics expert, and two Army officers and two Marine Corps officers. Their intention was to lay out the most likely scenario for what Americas’ next war might look like.

That analysis was codified in a 1989 Marine Corps Gazette article authored by Lind, Sutton, and Lieutenant Colonel Gary Wilson.

William Lind is a far-right paleocon:

Lind is the Director of the Center for Cultural Conservatism at the Free Congress Foundation. He advocates a Declaration of Cultural Independence by cultural conservatives in the United States, in the belief that the Federal government has ceased to represent their interests, and begun to coerce them into negative behavior and affect their culture in a negative fashion. The Center believes that American culture and its institutions are headed for a collapse, and that cultural conservatives should separate themselves from the calamity it foresees. It supports setting up independent parallel institutions with a right to secession and a highly decentralized nature that would rely on individual responsibility and discipline to remain intact, but would prevent the takeover of the institutions by those hostile to cultural conservatism’s ideals. [Link: en.wikipedia.org…]

According to a 2003 SPLC report entitled Mainstreaming Hate:

This June 15, at a major Holocaust denial conference put on by veteran anti-Semite Willis Carto in Washington, D.C., Lind gave a well-received speech before some 120 “historical revisionists,” conspiracy theorists, neo-Nazis and other anti-Semites, in which he identified a small group of people who he said had poisoned American culture. On this point, Lind made a powerful connection with his listeners.

“These guys,” he explained, “were all Jewish.”

Lind seemed nervous when he gave his speech, apparently sensing the potential for bad publicity.

“I do want to make it clear for the foundation and myself that we are not among those who question whether the Holocaust occurred,” he said.

But he added that he was there despite that, because his foundation had a “regular policy to work with a wide variety of groups on an issue-by-issue basis.”

Listening and enthusiastically applauding was a crowd that included Jürgen Graf, a Swiss Holocaust denier who fled to Iran to avoid prosecution at home; Eustace Mullins, a rabid anti-Semite who once wrote an article entitled “Adolf Hitler: An Appreciation”; former SS man Hans Schmidt, and many others.

More Lind related SPLC articles here.

So you have the Christianists in the military (see articles here and here) AND in politics… Somehow, I don’t think Islamists are the primary threat to our freedoms and way of life at the moment.
