tmz.com has obtained an alleged recording of Hutton Gibson on the Political Cesspool Radio Program — the name tells you all you need to know — during which he’s asked if the Catholic Church has been “politicized” to the point where it cannot address controversial issues such as homosexuality, which Hutton and the host apparently connect to the clergy sexual abuse crisis.
The movie star’s dad says the church can’t take care of the crisis “because half of the people there in the Vatican are queer.”
Does he include Pope Benedict XVI in that tribe? “I certainly do. Why else would he put up with this?”
“He was in charge of stamping it out, and he did nothing. He just kept quiet,” Hutton Gibson says, echoing, oddly, the laments of many mainstream Catholics.
