Coronado grad, nephew of ex-PAN leader, is slain in Juárez parking lot
EL PASO — A Coronado High School graduate who is the nephew of a former high-ranking Mexican political party official was shot and killed Wednesday in Juárez, officials said.
Hugo Francisco Zamora Ochoa, 24, is the nephew of Manuel Espino Barrientos, the former president of the National Action Party, known by its Spanish initials, PAN.
Zamora was fatally shot in his car about 11 a.m. in the parking lot of a retail center at Palacio de Mitla and Durango streets in southeast Juárez, Chihuahua state police said. Investigators found five bullet casings of two calibers.
Zamora graduated from Coronado High School in 2002, said El Paso Independent School District spokeswoman Berenice Zubia. The U.S. Consulate in Juárez could not immediately confirm whether Zamora was a United States citizen.
