Wingnuttery & racist nationalism are not the only signs of a hard economy. Precious metals crimes are up too.
Report: Salesman robbed of $750K in gold jewelryRichardson, Texas-A jewelry salesman visiting several stores in the Dallas area Wednesday was robbed of an estimated $750,000 worth of 22-karat gold jewelry while attempting to make one of his stops, according to a newspaper report. At least one of the men had a knife, but the salesman suffered only minor cuts and bruises, and no one else was hurt. The men made off with a small suitcase and a backpack full of what the newspaper story described as “handcrafted, fine-detailed Asian jewelry.”
“This is a very well-planned and thought-out type of offense,” Richardson police Sgt. Kevin Perlich told the newspaper. “There was no plate on the front of the vehicle, and the plate on the back was covered up or had a white temporary tag on it.”
