2012 United States Grand Prix circuit revealed
Formula 1 United States Grand Prix Race Track Revealed
The circuit will have 20 turns and will be about 3.4 miles (5.47 kilometers). As you can see from the circuit image, it’s turns have been influenced by the Maggets-Becketts-Chapel complex from Silverstone (Turns 3 through 9), and Istanbul’s famous Turn 8 (which are turns 16-18 on the Austin circuit), as well as a nod to the stadium section of the Hockenheimring (turns 13 through 15). The maximum speed the cars are expected to reach is around 200MPH (322 KM/H). There’s also going to be an maximum elevation change of about 130 feet (~40 meters).
The link also has links to PDFs of a 3D map showing elevation changes, while the 2D one just gives the layout of the circuit.
Looks to be a nice circuit, if it gets built. Hopefully, that will happen, but I’m not going to hold my breath over it. Groundbreaking is sometime in December.
