U.S. actors back Israeli boycott of West Bank theater | Israel News
Hollywood has always been known for integrity and a firm moral backbone. Who better than actors can make moral judgments with complete honesty and integrity?
I especially love the section stating that American actors must make daily compromises in their own lives, but were inspired by the actions of other actors half-way around the world, to support their stand—still comfortable with the daily comprises that they themselves must make. After all, why make a tough decision in your own life when you can back the tough decision someone else makes in theirs?
And why wasn’t this ‘tough moral’ decision made in, oh, 1988, when the community was 10 years old, or twenty years old, in 1998? Why now when the community is over 30 years old? Is there any actionable offense the residents have taken, other than the European classic crime of living while being Jewish?
Here’s a short history of the area boycotted, and I seem to be missing the notion of crime here.
If the Israeli actors have the same rock solid moral foundation as their Hollywood counterparts, then I would assume one or two were hoping to get good roles in Europe but found that they couldn’t, for the same reasons Jews have always had trouble finding employment in Europe.
