Sadly, trooferism is all too common. From 08/01/2006:

"More than a third of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the 9/11 terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could go to war in the Middle East, according to a new Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll.

The national survey of 1,010 adults also found that anger against the federal government is at record levels, with 54 percent saying they "personally are more angry" at the government than they used to be.

Widespread resentment and alienation toward the national government appears to be fueling a growing acceptance of conspiracy theories about the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon."

Suspicions that the 9/11 attacks were "an inside job" _ the common phrase used by conspiracy theorists on the Internet _ quickly have become nearly as popular as decades-old conspiracy theories that the federal government was responsible for President John F. Kennedy's assassination and that it has covered up proof of space aliens.

IPT is Chernick / Horowitz sponsored site -- why should we trust information from Steve anymore than that from Spencer or Shrieky Pam?

While Khan is a troofer, this is six degrees of Kevin Bacon stuff.

Here's the problem. As much as I detest truthers their beliefs are still a Constitutionally protected right. While it may play, if true, in the courtroom of the public arena, there is nothing illegal about this perspective. In order for this allegation to have any weight it would require the subjugation of the Constitution much like what the opponents are calling for to not allow the construction of Park 51.

Take a look at Ron and Rand Paul who are surrounded by truthers and have frequently partaken in truther rhetoric. That doesn't stop them from being the darlings of the Tea Party and within a noticeable segment of the GOP. It also didn't stop Ron Paul from speaking at the famous conservative gathers, CPAC, and winning the presidential straw poll this year.

And exactly the kind of association that is being used trying to create the image of the GOP being "completely nuts". This is the state of politics.

Imam Rauf and Faiz Khan have nearly zero influence on our government. They are outside the inner circle and you won't see them speaking at political gathering such as the Values Voter Summit in which Bryan Fischer will speak. In a room full of Republican presidential hopefuls. Rauf and Khan also barely affect policy. Groups like the AFA and individual like Fischer have a profound effect on US policy given the close ties of the Christian religious right and the Republican Party.

Used to be exposing Truthers was something we did here.

For those who doubt the story Dr. Faiz Khan is a truther, please take a few minutes to watch the videos and read his articles.

Iman Faiz Khan (as he sometimes calls himself) is a truther. And he did give a sermon at the former Burlington Coat Factory site in December of 2009.

You can see it with your own eyes here: [Link: www.spiegel.de...]

That is him.... no denying that. And maybe he wasn't ask to give a sermon at that prayer room. Maybe we believe him when he says that he hasn't spoken to Iman Rauf or Daisy Khan in years. Even though Daisy was there that day last December...Who asked him to make the sermon for the faithful that showed up that day for prayer services?

I know I am not going to believe ANYTHING he says, because he is a truther. However that is just me. I suppose you can believe him.

I don't believe him when he says he is no longer on the board of directors of ASMA (American Society for Muslim Advancement). However on the Societies website his bio still says he is.
[Link: www.asmasociety.org...]

Me? I am not going to believe ANYTHING he says, because he is a truther. Not just a truther, but a racist truther....

He is happy to anyone who will listen (when he thinks the world isn't listening) that the US government role in 9/11 is obvious to everyone all over the world. When he travels the world, everyone he speaks to agrees with that. He spreads that racist idea that the jews were warned in advance. He doesn't see anything wrong with spreading that canard.

Sure, when he wants to seem legitimate he will tell you that he wants to HEAL the wound of 9/11.... but he does not agree what caused the injury.

That is OK, he is harmless you say. He has a right to say whatever he wants.

Fine, ignore the truthers. Don't try and expose them to the ridicule they deserve.

However don't try and stop me from doing it. It is after all.... my right.
