Well, for some reason those important shovel-ready projects don’t exist.

Not very surprising, given how during the first decade of this century local, state, and federal leaders (many Republicans) ignored long term projects for short term tax cuts.

It’s unfortunate that President Obama had to discover this so late. When the Stimulus was being debated some voices did raise concern about this lack of planned (but not yet funded) projects.

Christie in NJ is a classic example happening today. His cancellation of the very long planned tunnel project is an example of short sighted politics.

As large a staff and as expansive as the resources of the Federal Government are, I think it’s entirely disingenuous to suggest the President has no idea what was going on.

I will concede he was certainly working a short schedule, with a lot of anticipation, but this was too big of a mistake to have been made.

Several possible scenarios: It was suggested, someone else said “this won’t work” and they were shouted down, for expediency.

The Staff just let themselves rush ahead, for political expediency, and failed, as is their duty and what they draw a paycheck for, to keep “The Boss” up to speed.

In either case, this economic condition required thoughtful, insightful, responsible consideration, even if it meant going before the cameras and telling the people it would take just a little bit longer to make sure, in the mess, a larger mess wasn’t created, and I know I told you, and yes we will, but take a deep breath and hang with me sort of speechifying.

I’m biased, but I think it was treated more in a campaigning for election mode, rather than sitting down and assuming the role of leader of all the people.

Once you get the keys to the car, it’s yours. Just remember, the “Bush/The Republicans made me doing it!” mantra, needs only two words changed in the event of the change of parties in charge. I’m sure you’ll rally to my line of thought presented, if the cry from the next president is “Obama did it to me!”

It’s certainly not like the run up to the election was done in a climate of massive prosperity and a budget surplus….and to think the President was a member of the Senate and still didn’t see this coming is a stretch.

The crisis is still here. Time to man up and fix it, or….well, a single speech to the nation and a helo ride out of town will make it all go away if it’s too hard to handle. SUre would help if everyone quit pointing fingers and put all the energy reserved for that into making things better.
