I strongly suspect this is a hoax. I find it hard to imagine that the History Channel would accept this advertisement.

The Georgia Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans has created 10 one minute TV ads that will be aired on the History Channel from October through December.

The "History" channel airs all sorts of wacky programs. While this may be a hoax, if it were real I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up on some cable network.

Ugh. I don't think this is a hoax. They sounded sincere.
What a whitewash. What a slanderous lie on Lincoln and the North too. I'm at a loss for words for the contempt I have for these people.

I am writing with regard to a series of advertisements that the Sons of Confederate Veterans claim will be aired on the History channel:

These advertisements present a dishonest perspective on history, which slanders the United States of America and whitewashes the history of slavery in the South.
I strongly urge you not to air these advertisements.

This honestly seems like an SNL skit, I couldn't believe my ears. It was sickening and atrocious to watch and what's even worse is to think that this kind of shit is still tolerated and accepted -- in 2010! I can only hope that this kind of ignorance will completely fade out in about 25 years once this older generation dies off; there really is no hope for some people. It is really really hard for me to swallow how this type of revisionist and ugly history could possibly cater and be appealing to a segment of our population, even with all the extremist hoopla that's been going on lately.
