Man slain in Juárez may be National Guardsman
The FBI and the U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigation Division are looking into whether a man shot to death Wednesday in Juárez was a member of the Texas National Guard.
The FBI began investigating the death of Jose Gil Hernández Ramírez, 21, about 4 p.m. after Ramírez’s father told Mexican officials that his son was a member of the National Guard, said Special Agent Michael Martinez, spokesman for the FBI.
Col. Bill Meehan, spokesman for the Texas National Guard, said Fort Bliss officials had notified them that there was a possibility one of their guardsmen had been killed on the streets of Juárez.
