What a fine man. His wife should be proud. I am. Kept his cool at a place and time I suspect I would not be able too. A tip of my hat sir, and best wishes to you and your young family.

Posting this here and in the comments at the page. Retweeting too. Great freakin page. Well done. Heh, I'm calling Dragon_lady to up ding this one. Just mine is not enough.

Good for him! I'm very proud of him for standing up to those people and a lot more people should be doing the same. We have friends that absolutely believe that a woman has no right to her own body and what happens to it when it comes to pregnancy. They seem to feel that they have the right to say what happens in a woman's body is their right to judge. What ever happened to the right to make your own decision regarding your own body? No one protests it if a man decides to have a vasectomy, think of all the potential baby's they're killing. But you don't hear anybody protesting that now do you? Hypocrites! Those women should be ashamed of themselves. Good story SB, well done. Keep up the good work.

I concur. The man is a hero of sorts, and I really like the way he told his story in print. It puts a much sharper, albeit sadder, focus on the incident.

The decision he and his wife had to make (and there was really no other decision that could have been made in this circumstance) was certainly a most difficult and traumatic one for them. And for these anti-abortion fanatics to add insult to injury, to "drive the blade in even deeper" as he puts it, is disgusting and unforgivable.

I once had an encounter with an absolutist anti-abortion fanatic. Of course, she knew little of medical science and nothing about the amount of fertilized eggs rejected naturally (most of what they call babies are flushed).

Strangely, she was most stunned by the condition of anencephaly, where a child develops without a brain. For some reason, despite all the voodoo logic of "soul given at conception", the idea of a human being with a person and soul did not trancend the very materialistic border of the brain.

There is a reachable center of reason under that veil of superstitious nonsense. It's just that it's so much easier to have a nice little outing with your friends, verbally abusing vulnerable people, in the name of the Lord - rather than actually looking into and thinking about the subject.

The problem is, people like this do not think critically about anything. Not their lives, not their faith, and not about any of the facts in the world around them. They make perfect little zombie foot soldiers and fundraisers for the groups that are actually profiting mightily from the abortion issue, like Focus on the Family.
