‘Mohammed’ Tops UK Baby Name List
Are times changing? I must say that the Muslims shown in this video look altogether more reasonable than the reactionaries “shocked” by an affront on their “indigenous population.”

Thanks for posting a balanced report on the statistical data that was released.
I don’t know if you saw it (and I can’t find it now), but yesterday someone created an LGF page about the same data from the Office for National Statistics, except they referenced a telegraph.co.uk blog piece that claimed the increase was due to Muslims becoming “more religious”, which then went on to promote the creeping-shariah-be-very-afraid thing. (The author of that article based his assertion on the findings of a poll by Policy Exchange, a conservative British think tank, in 2007.) I guess everyone should be afraid of baby boys named Mohammed now. I mean look how scary this little guy is. //
The LGF page also linked to an article about the report on a right wing Israeli site, with the article’s page featuring the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoon and a tribute to Meir Kahane in the sidebar.
Just to clarify, according to another article at the Telegraph, while it IS the most popular name in England and Wales
In fact, in all its various spellings, Mohammed is now the favourite name for newborn boys in England and Wales.
it is actually 16th in the entire U.K.
Even without variant spellings, Mohammed was the most common boy’s name in the West Midlands and the fourth most popular in London. In the South West, however, it ranked 145th. It was 16th overall.

The headline is deceptive.
I thought that “Tops the list” meant it was the most popular. Apparently it just means that somebody made a list of names and put Mohammed at the top of the list. ‘Oliver’ is the most popular name.
