Ya know, I've often said that I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Al Capone secretly funneled monies to the Temperance movement. Not a bit surprised.

OMG! LOL

Years ago, they had those ridiculous commercials that buying pot increases terrorism. No way! Legalize or decriminalize. The government controls it, the price goes down, no pesticides and it's taxable. And the best part of all, you've cut a huge portion of the drug trade.

Anyway, I saw this great Rally for Insanity sign that I can't find now, but it said...

LEGALIZE IT!
(And make it quick before they check my knapsack)

OMG, that guy looks like my old drummer/banker - from the thick black hair to the wife beater to yelling at his kids to shut the fuck up. DOes his wife do online porn too? To funny.

NPR had a bunch of stoners on who were organizing (really, do stoners organize?) against Prop 19 due to it's restrictions on growing - 25 sq feet...I think. Not much room to craft some good bud and I'd have to agree, but still, we're pulling for Prop 19 out here in fly over country. I need my meds!

Ugh. Don't remind me. When that bullshit campaign was going on, me and a friend went to a huge metal concert and fired up a joint in the seats. People moved away from us, and shot us looks like we have bought that doobie straight from Osama Bin Laden himself. Someone snitched, 'cuz we had security shining flashlights on us every 15 minutes for the rest of the night.

At a fucking metal concert, of all places.

Hmmm...I was kinda hoping for a reference to Fresno, that's always been my hometown's claim to fame (as the meth production capital of the US) Guess the LA suburbs Riverside and Lancaster win this time. In the end all these cities lose, from those that cook (who more often than not are addicts) to those that consume, crank really really does F you up. I truly think if addicts replaced their habits with weed the world would really be a better place.

Unfortunately Prop 19 has failed.

I was disappointed when Obama came out against it (and I'm otherwise generally an Obama supporter).

Legalization supporters need to try again. We need a way to leverage our votes. If enough people pledged to only vote for pro-legalization candidates, candidates would be forced to choose between supporting legalization and throwing away a voting bloc. Having a single-issue candidate to champion the issue would be helpful too.

re: #7 Timmeh

I think it would have found more success with the older populations of society if there was a larger plan to regulate it after legalization. What happens with the federal funding? How can its use be measured if a policeman thinks a driver is under the influence? The votes show that an overwhelming majority of people aren't against it.
