As deplorable as I find waterboarding, I have to say that Barack Obama’s allocation of the power to assasinate US citizens is a more frightening precedent. That authority has such obvious potential abuse and revokes the rule of law that the West has prided itself on since Magna Carta.

That kind of misconstrues the truth. Chuck Norris had a big beef with it because he’s got this crazy conspiracy that Obama is going to assassinate his enemies.

In reality, it’s for citizens who have defected to Al Qaeda, and how we deal with them during combat. No one is being secretly targeted by the CIA or anything like that.

It’s really disingenuous to make it sound like it’s right wing militia nuts who are worried about this. The ACLU has taken up this issue, along with bloggers at Mother Jones.

I don’t think disingenuous is the word you’re looking for.

But anyway, the ACLU will look into it, as they should. However, until any abuse actually happens it’s just more paranoia. Extraordinary renditions and waterboarding were real.
