U.S. gets earful from Human Rights Council, courtesy of Iran, North Korea and Cuba
The United States faced unprecedented public scrutiny of its human rights record before the U.N. Human Rights Council, enduring attacks on its military and detention policies from political rivals, including Cuba, Iran and North Korea, some of whom instructed staff to wait outside the building overnight so they could be first in line to criticize Washington. But the Obama Administration also received praise from friendly countries for its candor and willingness to accept constructive criticism of its conduct at home and abroad.
