On This Day of Rememberance
On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918, a horrific conflict came to a deeply unsettled close. The sober observance of that date has rightfully become a time to remember those who serve, and the horrors they have endured and continue to endure.
From the destruction and trauma came lessons, some we learned, some we’re learning. Also, the conflict gave us, through the words and vision of a Canadian physician, what is, to me, one of the most heart-breakingly beautiful expressions of grief for the fallen I have ever seen.
Perhaps a future generation will have little cause to grieve in this manner.
