The Madness (And Bigotry) Of Glenn Beck Fans
When I signed on to Twitter today, I found to my surprise that I had been added to four new lists. I check lists regularly because they are usually nice ones set up by friends I collaborate with here, at Gonzo Times or at Voice of the Migrant. Not this time.
The four lists were titled “List-GAY-Hate-Mongers-of-Glenn-Beck,” “GeorgeSorosPaidStooge,” “ListOfPeopleMentallyIll” and “list-of-mentally-ill-people.”
The first list is my personal favorite. The fact that someone could disparagingly call someone both “gay” and a “hate monger” in the same sentence is pretty incredible.
The man or woman behind these lists is “1776LibertyBell.” Apparently he’s another anonymous person who doesn’t quite want the heat that comes with letting your real name out there. Nevertheless, he or she is yet another revealing glimpse at what Beck appeals to.
It’s unfortunate that, thanks to Glenn Beck, those who genuinely care about maintaining the Bill of Rights and civil liberties are going to be looked at as moonbats in the future. Fortunately, the Constitution has inspired for a long time and will continue to inspire when Beck becomes an unfortunate memory along the lines of Joseph McCarthy or Father Coughlin.
