A GROUP of friends came forward Friday as the buyers of the $128.6 million ($130 million) Powerball ticket bought at a Michigan porn shop, the Detroit News reported.
The group claimed their prize on Friday’s deadline after speculation that the winner might be too embarrassed to come forward since the ticket was sold at Highland Park’s Uptown Bookstore, which sells pornographic movies, magazines and sex toys.
According to Powerball rules in Michigan, winners cannot remain anonymous when they claim their prize.
Nonetheless, the actual buyer remained unnamed — the representative for the group, Mike Greer, a 49-year-old who lives in a Detroit suburb, claimed he did not know which of his friends bought the ticket.
He also did not say how many people were in the prize-sharing group or how they would split the winnings.
“I have no idea why this happened. All I can figure is God had a plan for us,” Greer said, adding that a share of the huge sum would go to his church.
