Charles mentioned yesterday that it would be nice if someone would volunteer to run a a weekly roundup of cool pages. I think it’s a great idea. There’s a lot of great stuff being posted that might not be juicy enough to make the featured section but still deserves attention. Kind of like a carnival of pages. Koskidz call it a Diary Rescue feature.
Any volunteers?

Lifehacker just posted an article called Top 10 Tips for Better Writing. Some of the tips are obvious, but there are a couple I hadn’t really thought of.

The Copyblogger web site is also a great resource. It’s geared specifically towards writing for the web with marketing in mind, but the advice is invaluable nonetheless—after all, we are marketing ideas & opinions here. Anyway, a good starting point is Copywriting 101: An Introduction to Effective Copy.

Hmm, I think I’m going to turn this into a page of its own so the info doesn’t get lost down here in the comments. I’ll link back to this page as well.

Great post!

One note on #16 — I changed the code so that the title links in the sidebar now always go to the LGF Page instead of directly to the link.

re: #3 Charles

I changed the code so that the title links in the sidebar now always go to the LGF Page instead of directly to the link.

This is good. I was always annoyed by links that took me off of LGF without warning.

I’ve created an expanded list of writing tips on this page.

All media outlets have some bias, but some are used as tools by foreign states to help achieve internal policy objectives and sometimes external geopolitical goals. There’s a difference between state sponsored media and media that is state run that lizard editors need to recognize. State Run means that government agencies and figures directly limit and sometimes even edit what appears in the press; state sponsored media instead provides funding but allows the media a somewhat free hand, and in the latter you will see articles critical of the sponsoring government, while in state Run media you never see highly critical articles. There’s a gamut of media freedom that ranges from the free-wheeling state sponsored BBC, to the US’s hands free Public Broadcasting system, all the way to the repressive state controlled outlets in North Korea, Cuba, Iran, China, Myanmar, and others. One method to see if media is controlled or not is to check if there is internet blocking in the country: if the government blocks internet or censors then you are likely to have media repression or even total direct control of the press. When citing from a state run source such as IRIN, you should always warn or provide a disclaimer. When citing from state sponsored agitprop outlets, then you should also warn or disclaim.

Thanks for this.

re: #6 OrionXP

Thanks for your response as well way back, it made me think this over a bit.
