It would behoove the Republicans not only to repeal the 26th, but to add a new amendment restricting voting to Medicare recipients.
Let's disenfranchise college graduates while we're at it; they're not that much different than felons, after all.

Jimmy Carter was such an abominable president we got Ronald Reagan, tax cuts, a booming economy and the destruction of the Soviet Union.

And the destruction of various communist regimes, which were helped by George Soros and other democratic activists like him.

Just read this to my wife. Her response, "If they're old enough to go to war, they're old enough to vote."

re: #2 OrionXP

In my opinion, the West did not win The Cold War. The Soviet Union lost due to bad economic decisions and severe over-arming. Spending upwards of 30% of your GDP on your armed forces is something no economy can sustain for long.

It's funny and ironic how strict constitutionalists say they defend the constitution, when in reality they are faaar more discriminative (in the sense that they pick and choose what's convenient to their agenda) than the most liberal contingent of the democratic party. Did anyone see the latest episode of 30Rock? The loony constitutional "Originalists" get a big shout-out.

Yeah Ann that's a great way to make young people want to support the GOP by them supporting a movement to disenfranchise them. Fuck her and the horse she rode on. I'm sick of right wing assholes proposing disenfrahcising people as a way to weaken the left.

Coulter keeps going more and more crazy. Hopefully, this piece of hers just gets laughed at.

I would dispose of the "old enough to fight" arguments by raising the age of enlistment to 21. Recruiters will scream, of course, but the military's requirements have changed since the Civil War, while the minimum age has not. We would have to raise pay drastically, of course, but the salaries of uniformed personnel are actually only a small part of the total defense budget, around 14% in fact. The rest goes for equipment, parts, ammunition, fuel and a whole galaxy of highly paid contractors and civil servants who perform functions that uniformed personnel used to perform. A more mature force would allow for cost savings in other areas: Wastage would be lower, costly personal problems less frequent, and maintenance generally better.
War is not for kids and people take longer to mature in this complex society than they did in Grant and Lee's time.
