PA looks for its own incentive package for negotiations - Jerusalem Post
According to the Palestinian sources, the PA wants additional financial aid and a promise from Washington to intervene in the direct negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel to reach a peace agreement within one year.
The PA is also hoping that the US package of incentives would include a “political commitment” that an agreement would be reached on the borders of a Palestinian state within three months, the sources told the London-based Al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper.
In addition, the PA wants a US commitment to solve the issue of the Palestinian refugees and compensate them through an international fund that would involve most countries in the region, including Israel.
In other words, they want the US to force Israel to accept everything the PA wants, in order to return to negotiations. Just last week everyone thought that all the PA wanted was a short extension of a settlement freeze.
The PA thinks they can get this.
Here’s what they want: 1. They want to change the status of Area C to the same status as Area A. They want Israel to demolish the cities that have been built since the 1967 war. They want to make sure no Jew sets foot in their ‘new country’. They want their hereditary ‘refugees’ to move, en masse, into Israel proper, within the borders of 1967. They want all of their allies in the region to give them enough money to continue to fill PA Swiss bank accounts, build an army, and eventually hit Israel with an attack on 3 fronts.
Unfortunately, I suspect the US will view a compromise as supporting some of these demands.
